I have seen so many Instagram posts and TikTok videos about this book. It doesn't take a lot for me to buy something online based on posts and videos and my bank account hates me for it.
Every time I went onto social media, I would see this book. I had no idea what the book was about, I didn't want to look at any reviews, I just wanted to read the book because title caught my eye. I didn't actually know what I was getting into (which is rare for me because I love to research and plan everything).
Information about the book:
Lily hasn't always had it easy, but that's never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She's come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up - she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily's life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He's also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily, but Ryle's complete aversion to relationships is disturbing.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan - her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.
Everyone told me that I would cry and be an emotional mess when I finished reading It Ends With Us and I thought that they were joking. It turns out that they were not joking. I did start to tear up at the end and had to be on my own for a while. I've never felt that emotional after reading a book and I'm glad that it happened after reading this book. There is one thing that I didn't like about It Ends With Us and that is Lily's name. I just can't stand her name and I know it's not the most important thing in the book, I know that, but just Lily Bloom and she owns a flower shop. It's clever but it annoyed me at the same time.
There is a quote on the back of the book "Sometimes the one who loves you is the one who hurts you the most" which is absolutely right. Colleen Hoover writes about a topic that really needs to be spoken about more. It happens more than we think it does and sometimes it's too late to walk away. We all love a love a happy ending and half way through reading this book, I didn't think there would be a happy ending. I'm glad there was one and I'm glad that Lily made a decision that would benefit her.
It Ends With Us was difficult for me to read and to write about but I'm glad I did. However I think it will be a while before I read it again. I think everyone needs to read books like this and start talking about the struggles you face when going through something like that.
