There are quite a lot of series of books that I loved as a child/teenager. However I've narrowed the list down to five. So here goes
1. Harry Potter – J. K. Rowling
The Boy Who Lived. Whether you like Harry Potter or not, read the books or seen the films. We all know the story. If you do not know the story, then you should know that we follow Harry, Ron and Hermione through the seven books in a fight the save the Wizarding World against Voldemort. There are laughter, tears, heartbreak, love and magic.
2. The Strike Series – Robert Galbraith
Cormoran Strike is a Private Detective and Robin Ellacott is his work partner. Throughout the series we see Strike and Robin solve crimes that the police can’t seem to solve while becoming closer. So far there are only 5 books published and every single one of those books are the perfect combination of sarcasm and danger. Full of plot twists that make you second guess your own thoughts and feelings, the Strike series is a good way to breakthrough the Crime Thriller genre.
3. The Vampire Diaries – L. J. Smith
I must admit that I haven’t read the last three books of this series because for some reason I decided that I was too good for TVD and wanted to grow up. I sadly don’t have the books anymore, but I have been tempted to buy them again and give them another go. So High School girl Elena (Human) must decide between Stefan and Damon Salvatore (vampires) while dealing with supernatural creatures like Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Angels, Demons and many more in the town called Fell's Church and trying save everyone while saving themselves (sometimes from each other).
4. The Gallagher Girls – Ally Carter
This series was every teenage girls dream. Spies, a spy school, cute boys and danger, what’s not to love? Follow Cammie, Bex, Liz and Macey in their battle of friendship, romance and survival during the six part series. I must say that this series is still a guilty pleasure of mine ever since I bought the first book when I was 13 and even now I read them every so often and fall more in love with each character.
5. The Secret Circle – L. J. Smith
Another L. J. Smith classic only this time the books are based solely on Witches. The Secret Circle is a coven of teenage Witches that uncovers the truth about the generation before them (their parents) whilst also dealing with the teenage drama of romance. With a coven full of eleven teenagers who have no control over their powers, what could possibly go wrong? It doesn’t help that their parents are just as bad with their secrets and covering up the truth of their past.
